It's birthday month around here. That means we are talking parties, cupcakes, and FIRE! One of the things that Little Man struggles with is any kind of flame. He loves fire trucks, fire hydrants, and playing fireman on his ATV, but when it comes to actual flame, no matter how small, he is terrified.
This means that when it comes to birthday candles we have issues. Today we pulled out the 3 candle and let Little Man look at it. He let it sit on the table for a little while and then finally found his courage and picked it up. (You can't tell in the picture, but he is wearing fireman pajamas.) We spent some time practicing with blowing it out... unlit of course. He seemed to really like that idea, but I'm sure we are going to keep working on it and see if we can't actually light his birthday candles this year! But even if we can't there will still be some rockin' fun. (One of the things this little guy has taught me is that you don't have to do things the same way as everybody else to have the same amount of fun.)
He is very excited about his birthday. He has a very specific guest list that includes a 10 month old and 10 year old so it will be an interesting collection of people. I think he has finally set on Thomas the Engine cupcakes and if you ask him what he wants for his birthday, he ponders for a moment and then says, "Superman." (He still gets a little confused with birthday and Halloween.)
My kids are growing way to fast. I have absolutely loved the two's with this Little Man.

Awwww. How cute. What a blessing in life - to be given opportunities to look at things from a different angle - and to be able to take a challenge and turn it into something fun. Rock on Mom!
