Fine Dining

Last night for dinner we had hot dogs.  Nothing fancy.  As we are always trying new things and new ways to get Little Man to eat, I cut the tip of a hot dog into 4 pieces and put each little piece onto a toothpick.  Of course Little Man was not happy with the prospect of those little pink squares on his plate, but he did manage to eat the rest of dinner around them which is big just in itself.  We then pulled out some ice cream for dessert which he absolutely loves (and yes we bribe per our OT) and we actually got 3 licks on a hot dog in trade for a little ice cream.  One of the problems Little Man has is mixing his textures.  He doesn't like to put Cheerios in  milk, or fries in ketchup, or peanut butter on a cracker, and on and on.  So, last night Doug and I were quite pleasantly surprised to the lengths Little Man was willing to go to get every little lick of ice cream he could.

Now he didn't actually eat the Cheez-it that he was using to "scoop" ice cream, because that would have been huge, but he is at least licking the ice cream (soft texture) from the side of the Cheez-it (hard texture).  You can see the hot dogs that remained uneaten, but at least licked.  And yes, there is one hot dog eaten, but I ate it while trying to convince him to let the hot dogs touch his teeth!  We are in a very long war with Little Man's internal body, but last night we won a little battle!
