I usually take some Christmas crafts for the kids to work on while we hang out and this year Doug had the great idea of bringing a wooden kit for Little Man to pound on. It was a small wooden dump truck and Little Man accidentally saw the packaging as we were packing the car so he pretty much begged to make his dump truck the first two days we were there. It was a great pj activity for him. Doug was pretty brave to put his fingers into hammer reach.
The other thing we spent hours doing was swimming. Little Man had just finished his 3rd session of swim lessons and was struggling mightily with his love/hate relationship with the pool. What we learned was that 5 straight days in the water in a basically quiet swimming pool did wonders. In lessons he screams when the teacher just mentions putting his head in the water. After being at the beach he was putting his head in the water to pull diving rings out of the water while I held them under. He also learned that he can stand independently in 3 feet of water which gave him better confidence in the water.
On our last day we were finally able to get out onto the beach because it was only slightly cold. We walked the pier, got to watch the SkyWheel and do a little sand art.
