Christmas 2011

This has been an interesting Christmas.  For the most part we have been running an infirmary between our kids and even myself for a short while.  But in the midst of it all we all managed to be healthy for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

This was one of those years that comes around every 6 or 7 years that requires Doug to work for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  That meant that we had to rearrange some of our normal routines, but both kids adapted really well.

This was the first year that Little Man really got into things.  His favorite word of the season was Santa and he used it a lot.  He loved going into Wal-Mart and looking at all the decorations and by the end of the season he knew exactly where each one was located and would start hollering out Santa long before we had actually gotten to the Santa aisle!  He also loved the displays of lights.  Another one of the his new words was "Wow!"  He used it to describe all the lights he saw and all the presents he got.  This is also the first present extravaganza where he actually wanted to rip off the paper.  Just like in everything else he was very meticulous in this.  Every shred of paper and tape had to be removed before he would actually look at the gift.

This year we pulled off a big Santa surprise by putting together a 20 gallon aquarium for both the kids to enjoy. It had been the #1 item on the princesses Christmas list.  Of course Little Man didn't get much say in his Christmas presents this year, but I think he was no worse for wear!

We were able to be well enough to enjoy a Christmas Dinner with my grandmother and my aunt which was lots of fun.  The kids were excited to have new faces to see their Christmas loot.

The kids both got their new Christmas pjs and for one small second we actually got them both to sit still and look like they love each other!

What better way to open your Christmas pj's than naked.  We had been waiting for Dad to get home from work so he was all ready for bed he just needed his new outfit.  His pajamas didn't have a Christmas theme because I couldn't find any I liked and he is very into football so he got a football theme instead!
This was his present from his sister.  She got him an angry bird which has slept in his bed every night since he got it.  He loves this game and is actually fairly proficient at it if he can use a a touch screen.  He got a hold of his speech therapist's iPad this week and was playing angry birds on it before she could bat an eyelash, it was pretty funny!
He loves books still so a new Bill Carle book that he was more than happy to read instead of opening any more gifts.

He also got a few new airplanes and helicopters and a book from the Smithsonian about things that fly.
This was also a huge hit.  I'm hoping that it is a first in a long line of Hess mobiles!
